Take part in an arts project on buses this weekend!

As you probably know I've been working on research into art and public
transport commissioned by Longhouse (check out some links below this
email). I've been playing with various ideas for projects for some
months but now it's time to have some action!

Therefore I would like to invite you to take part in an arts project
inspired by chaps playing loud hip-hop on their mobiles on buses,
rural/urban soundscapes and flashmobs. You could call it a temporary
'multimobile' sound installation for public transport spaces if you
like:).

All I'd like to ask you to do is to play some rural sounds (birdsongs,
dogs barking, etc.) on your mobile whilst on board a bus. Like a
flashmob - everybody meets at a bus stop, we all get on a bus (top
deck) and play a certain sound at a certain time (yet to be decided).
The sounds will be available on the internet to download onto your
mobile. All sounds are short (25secs to 1 minute) and designed to
create curiosity and amusement amongst fellow passengers rather than
annoyance.

The whole operation will take between 1-2 hours with the process
repeated 4 times with 4 different soundscapes on 4 different buses:
50, 11C, 1 and one more in the vicinity of King's Heath and Moseley -
tbc) and will be documented by myself using video/photography. I can
offer to cover your bus fares (unless you have a pass).

The sound files are available here:
www.alicjarogalska.co.uk/bus.zip (the 4 files are 5.6 MB)

Please let me know if you are interested in taking part (or know
someone who would be interested), whether you are available this
weekend: either Saturday or Sunday (21&22 Feb) lunchtime (exact times
tbc depending on people's availability so please let me know your
preferred times), have a phone you can put mp3 sound files onto and
play them (if you need other formats please let me know and I'll
convert them).

It would be great if as many people as possible participated, but with
such short notice I'd be happy if 5-10 people took part in this
slightly unusual but hopefully fun art project:). So please bring your
friends, families, in-laws, etc....

Look forward to hearing from you!

 Best wishes,

 Alicja
